St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

At 84 square miles, St. Croix is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Just 40 miles south of St. Thomas, St. Croix encompasses nearly two-thirds of the U.S. territory's land area. The island's two main towns, Christiansted and Frederiksted, offer shopping, dining and activities. Christiansted, a former Danish capital, presents the ancient architecture and history of old St. Croix with its government structures. The island offers three golf courses and is a haven for scuba divers due to the natural reef that surrounds the island.
